Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard is asking his fellow veterans to wear their medals next week to raise attention in Washington.
The 23-year Marine veteran and two-term mayor said Tuesday he plans to wear medals, ribbons and other military insignia he earned from Monday through Veterans Day.
Ballard says the "silent and respectful act" is meant to remind federal lawmakers of the many physical, mental and emotional sacrifices made by the nation's soldiers.
He asks that other veterans wear any military items they can throughout the week to show their support.
