Brian Kelly's philosophy is: "October is for pretenders and November is for contenders."
His Notre Dame team will likely need to go undefeated in November to meet its goal of earning a BCS bowl berth.
The Fighting Irish (6-2) have been nearly unbeatable in November under Kelly. Their only loss came in 2011 to Stanford. They've won their other 10 games in November, which gives Kelly the best winning percentage for the month in the past 100 years.
Kelly says there are a lot of factors that go into being successful in November, including staying healthy, being fortunate and good training and nutrition. But he also believes it is essential to make sure players are physically and mentally fresh.
Next up for Notre Dame is a game against Navy (4-3).
