Man shoots intruder on south side

INDIANAPOLIS -

Metro Police are investigating a shooting in the 1400 block of Kennington on the south side this morning.  Witnesses say a man with a crow bar was shot when he broke into their home.

Police have not confirmed the identity or condition of the man shot, but he was taken to Methodist hospital.

Members of the family say they had just moved into the house. and the wife was mopping floors when she said they heard glass break, and found the alleged intruder in the kitchen. 

The husband of the family located his handgun, first confronting the man with the crow bar, then shooting him after he allegedly swung the crow bar.

The couple's daughter believes the intruder was shot in the leg.  His identity and condition are not available.

Police are questioning the husband who fired the shot.
