Colts using off day to build playground at IPS school

Updated:
INDIANAPOLIS -

The Indianapolis Colts may have the day off from practice, but they will still be busy helping out in the community by building a playground at IPS School 93.

The project will utilize some 200 volunteers and 400 kids.

George Fisher Elementary will have a great place to play by this afternoon, thanks to the hard work of those volunteers.

This equipment will not only be something new for kids to climb on, but also safer.

This is the sixth year the Colts have worked with their partners to create fun for local kids, and this will be the largest playground build to-date by the team.

Everything will be done in less than eight hours. And the Colts hope this will encourage kids to be more active as part of the NFL's Play 60 campaign.

In addition to the playground build, the Indianapolis chapter of Rebuilding Together will involve some of the volunteers in landscaping, painting, weeding and beautifying the school grounds.

They will also construct an outdoor classroom to create a unique atmosphere for teachers to conduct their classes, revitalize the student garden and kickball fields, and create a special outdoor lounge area for teachers.
