Butler using $2.9M grant to create waterway museum

Updated:

Butler University will use a $2.9 million federal grant to create sites along six Indianapolis waterways that will use the arts to educate the public about the city's water system.

Butler's Center for Urban Ecology Director Tim Carter tells the Indianapolis Business Journal that the center will use the city itself as a learning environment. He says the six sites will feature activities such as dance, music and poetry that will interpret scientific content.

Carter says the museum will focus on six waterways and adjacent neighborhoods. The six waterways are the White River, Fall Creek, Central Canal, Eagle Creek, Pleasant Run and Pogue's
Run.

The National Science Foundation awarded the four-year grant.
