Officer Bradway escorted to Crown Hill Cemetery

INDIANAPOLIS -

The body of fallen officer, Rod Bradway, was transported to the location that will be his final resting place.

Saturday morning around 9am, a hearse carrying the officer's body and lead by a police escort left the Marion County Coroner's Office and slowly traveled through the downtown to Crown Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery on 38th Street.

Each time a fallen officer's body is transported, it's accompanied by a police escort as a sign of respect and the ultimate honor.

That happened when Officer Bradway was taken to the hospital by ambulance Friday morning. It happened again when his body was transferred to the coroner's office and then Saturday.

Bradway was fatally shot Friday morning while responding to a domestic disturbance.

The funeral for an officer killed in the line of duty will be held Thursday at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in downtown Indianapolis.

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department says the funeral for 41-year-old Officer Rod Bradway will be open to the public. It begins at 11 a.m. Thursday.

The viewing for Bradway is scheduled for 2-8 p.m. Wednesday at Crown Hill Funeral Home on the city's north side. A flag presentation will begin promptly at 2 p.m.

Bradway will be buried in the Heroes of Public Safety section of Crown Hill Cemetery.
