Operation Football hits halfway mark

INDIANAPOLIS -

Operation Football hits the halfway mark of the regular season Friday with what could be the game of the year.  

#1 6A Center Grove (4-0) takes on the team that held the top spot until this week, the Lawrence Central Bears (3-1).  LC is ranked #4 in 6A.  Carmel knocked off the Bears Friday 17-7.  

Eyewitness Sports Director Dave Calabro will broadcast his Operation Football segments live from Lawrence Central starting at 5PM.  

From there, Dave boards Chopper 13 for a trip east, to Richmond where the red-hot 3-1 Red Devils host the 3-1 Muncie Central Bearcats.

Then, it's off to Rush County to grab Skylights of the Rushville Lions (3-1) showdown with the Connersville Spartans (1-3).  (Check out Rushville's awesome tribute to Dave Calabro here!)

Calabro & Co. wrap things up in Hancock County at New Palestine HS where the undefeated #10 4A ranked Dragons (4-0) square off against the #15 5A Whiteland Warriors (3-1).

Eyewitness Sports will have plenty of other boots on the ground for Operation Football Week #5.  

Eric Yutzy heads west to Hendricks County to Quaker Country where he'll report live from Plainfield HS.  The the 3-1 Quakers host the Greenwood Woodmen (2-2).

From Plainfield, Eric travels north to Avon where the Orioles (1-3) take on Hendricks County rival Brownsburg (1-3).

Other games on the Friday night OPFB radar:  North Central (1-3) vs #5 6A Warren Central (3-1), Pendleton Heights (2-2) vs #12 4A Mt Vernon (3-1), #7 4A Roncalli (2-2) vs #5 2A Scecina (4-0) @ Uindy, Franklin Central (2-2) vs Perry Meridian (3-1) @ Southport Stadium and #8 2A Shenandoah vs Heritage Christian (2-2).  

Central Indiana football looks stronger than ever at the midway point of the season.  Eight out of the top ten schools in 6A are from Indianapolis Metro area and five out the top ten in 5A are from Marion County or the surrounding area.
