The Indiana Democratic Party's 2012 field organizer is moving to the campaign against strengthening and expanding Indiana's gay marriage ban.
Peter Hanscom announced Monday he will work as deputy campaign manager under Megan Robinson, a veteran of multiple Republican races. Robinson spoke at the campaign's launch last month and represents an influential group of Republicans opposing the new ban.
Indiana already limits marriage to one woman and one man. But supporters of writing that law into the state constitution say it is needed to bar any judge from potentially undoing the law.
The first leg of the battle will play out during next year's legislative session. If lawmakers approve it, the measure will then go before voters in November.
