Funeral arrangements set for Indiana Guard sergeant

INDIANAPOLIS -

Funeral arrangements have been set for an Indiana National Guard soldier who died in Afghanistan on September 13.

Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Centers will be handling the arrangements for Staff Sergeant Randall R. (Randy) Lane, age 43. Staff Sgt. Lane died from a non-combat related illness.

Visitation is scheduled from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday, September 23, at Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center at Washington Park East in Indianapolis. The public is welcome to attend.

Additional visitation will take place at First Christian Church of Neoga, 190 E. 6th Street, in Neoga, Illinois, on Tuesday, September 24, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. (C.S.T.) with funeral service scheduled at 10 a.m. (C.S.T.) on Wednesday, September 25. Burial will follow at the Swedish Lutheran Cemetery in Trowbridge, Illinois.

Lane deployed in January 2013 as a member of 1438th Transportation Company, stationed in Franklin, and had served as a motor transport operator providing security for convoy operations in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

Gov. Mike Pence said he and his wife were praying for Lane and his wife and family, saying he is grateful for the sacrifices of people like Lane.
