Only two of 165 animals recovered not adopted

SUMMITVILLE, Ind. -

The executive director of an animal shelter that helped rescue 165 animals from a central Indiana farm where more than 150 animals were found dead says all but two of the surviving animals have been adopted.

Animal Protection League Executive Director Maleah Stringer tells The Herald Bulletin that she has three pending requests for the two remaining horses. Many of the animals were barely alive when authorities discovered the farm near Summitville, about 60 miles northeast of Indianapolis, back in April.

Stringer says her faith in humanity was restored by the outpouring of support her organization received after the animals were found, saying it was flooded with offers of money, supplies and support.

A hearing in the case is scheduled for Oct. 11.
