INDIANAPOLIS -

Marion County Prosecutor Terry Curry will not appoint a special prosecutor to look into secret tapings in the David Bisard case.

Curry's office says he doesn't believe the tapings were illegal. Bisard is charged with driving drunk and killing a motorcyclist while on a call.

At his hearing last week, it was revealed a police investigator secretly recorded two conversations with a deputy prosecutor. Tuesday, Curry met with Pastor Steven Clay, who serves on the police merit board.

Clay asked for a special outside prosecutor to look into the tapings. Clay says IMPD can't be trusted to investigate itself.

But Curry's office says the prosecutor doesn't think the tapings were illegal. The public safety director's office says IMPD Chief Rick Hite has launched an internal investigation.

Clay says he and other clergy will meet later this week to decide their next step.
