BLOOMINGTON -

Police in Bloomington arrested a suspect in two separate robberies at the same bank.

Christopher P. Sowers, 33, was arrested 20 minutes after allegedly robbing the People's State Bank at 301 E. Winslow Road around 1 p.m. Monday. An officer saw Sowers running into a wooded area next to a neighborhood after the robbery. Police set up a perimeter and caught the suspect a short time later.

Sowers is also being charged for a robbery at the same bank last Thursday (Sept. 5). Police had noticed similarities in the manner in which the bank was robbed and a suspect description.

Investigators discovered Sowers had been staying at a motel in the 1700 block of North Walnut Street and executed a search warrant at that location. They found clothes that were worn during each robbery and other evidence that connected Sowers to the crimes.

He is being charged with two counts of felony robbery and one charge of resisting law enforcement.
