SOUTH BEND -

The sister of one of four girls killed by a bomb at the 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, Ala., will be in South Bend to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the tragedy.

The South Bend Tribune reports Dianne Braddock will speak at the Center for History at 4 p.m. Saturday. The public also is invited to gather at the University of Notre Dame's Center for Arts & Culture to make signs in preparation for a 3 p.m. march from the Indiana University South Bend's Civil Rights Heritage Center to Greater St. John Missionary Baptist Church.

Braddock's sister, 14-year-old Carole Robertson, and three others were killed when a bomb planted by white supremacists exploded at the church on Sept. 15, 1963.
