The first round of the PGA Championship has been halted because of inclement weather.
With thunder rumbling nearby and a line of storms bearing down on Oak Hill, the horn sounded at 4:25 p.m. EDT to signal a suspension of play Thursday.
Adam Scott was in the midst of a brilliant round when the unexpected break forced him to head to the clubhouse. He shot 5-under 30 on the front side and is tied atop the leaderboard with Jim Furyk, who shot 65 on a course ripe for the taking after being softened by overnight rain.
There are already 21 scores in the 60s, with more sure to come if play resumes.
Tiger Woods is not among them. He opened with a disappointing 71, finishing his round with a double bogey.
