Fiery semi crash caught on video in Greensburg

A passing truck driver captured dramatic video of a semi crash in Decatur County on I-74 Thursday with his dashboard camera early Thursday afternoon. The 30-year-old driver and his seven-year-old son only had minor injuries.

Video posted to YouTube shows the semi launching into the air at Exit 132 in Greensburg. It then lands and flames erupt from the trailer after it crosses the U.S. 421 roadway.  NOTE: The video contains profanity.

Senior Indiana State Trooper David Noah said it happened around 1:39 pm. Ryan Young of Owenton, Kentucky was eastbound on I-74 when another vehicle drifted into his lane. He swerved to avoid the other vehicle, ran off the south side of the interstate, up a hill then through the guardrail.

The semi then continued eastbound as it "ramped" the U.S. 421 interchange before striking another guardrail. The impact tore off the fuel tanks, causing the fuel to ignite.

Young had some minor facial and head injuries and his son, who was a passenger, only had a few scratches. Both were transported to Decatur County Hospital for treatment of their injuries. The crash remains under investigation.

Assisting: Decatur County Sheriff's Deputies, Greensburg Police, Greensburg Fire and EMS, and Indiana State Excise Police.
