BOONE COUNTY -

Three people were injured late Wednesday night in a head-on crash on Interstate 65 near State Road 267.

According to Corporal Chris Burcham of the Boone County Sheriff's Department, a wrong-way driver caused a three-vehicle crash in the southbound lanes at approximately 11:00 p.m.

The wrong-way car, a Pontiac Grand Prix, was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes when it struck an Indianapolis Airport Taxi van.

The man and woman in the car were not identified by Burcham other than they were from Brownsburg.  Both were taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.  The woman was unconscious when she left the scene, according to Burcham's report.

Mohamed Mansaray, 51, was driving the Dodge van that was struck by the car, and was taken to St. Vincent Hospital with lower extremity and internal injuries.   He was carrying no passengers at the time of the crash.

A third vehicle, a southbound Dodge box van, struck the Airport Taxi van, causing minor damage.  That van's driver was not injured.

The Boone County Fatal Alcohol Crash Team was called to the scene to investigate, as alcohol could be a factor in the crash.  That is still under investigation.

I-65 was restricted to one lane during the investigation and traffic backed up for several hours until the scene was cleared.
