Jay-Z has heard the talk - that some fans think he sold out to corporate America when he did a deal with Samsung to promote his new album, "Magna Carta Holy Grail."
He tells Rolling Stone magazine that his releasing the album as an app only through owners of Samsung smartphones is part of the way he has always done business.
He says working within the music business even as he rebels against it is something he has been doing his whole career. He says he doesn't fear getting in bed with a corporation because he won't let himself be compromised.
As he put it: "I'm not gonna let them put a phone on my forehead."
