Two injured in Indianapolis east side hit and run

Two moped riders were seriously injured in a hit and run crash involving an SUV Wednesday afternoon.

It happened just before 3:00 pm near Christian Park in the 4300 block of East English Ave.

Police found the 64-year-old male driver of the moped and his 56-year-old female passenger with serious injuries. Both were transported to Wishard Hospital in serious but stable condition.

According to Indianapolis Metro Police, both vehicles were headed westbound on East English Ave. when the crash occurred. The SUV driver left the scene after the crash.

Police are not sure what caused the crash.

Officers are asking for the public's help identifying and finding the other vehicle. Witnesses describe a large maroon SUV, with a dent and scratches on the driver's side of the car.
