Chris Brown pleads not-guilty to hit-and-run charge

Updated:
LOS ANGELES -

Not guilty. That's the plea Chris Brown's lawyer has entered in a hit-and-run case against the singer.

Brown was charged after a May 12 traffic accident in which he is suspected of rear-ending a car stopped at a red light and refusing to give the other driver his license or insurance information.

A trial in that case is set for August 15. Brown was also charged with driving without a license and driving without proof of insurance.

Those lesser charges were dismissed yesterday after Brown's attorney presented proof he was licensed in Virginia - the singer's home state.

Brown's probation was revoked as a result of the accident - though he remains free.
