BROWNSBURG -

A man and his dog were rescued after crashing into a Hendricks County pond Wednesday evening.

The Hendricks County Sheriff's Department was still investigating why the man's vehicle left the roadway and crashed into a pond off SR 267 near CR 200 North. A fence post was broken off between the road and the pond at the scene.

The car was submerged in the water when emergency crews arrived, but the man and his dog, the only occupants of the vehicle, were able to get out safely.

The man was transported to IU Health Methodist Hospital, but the extent and nature of his injuries is unknown.
