A Hancock County man faces a felony charge after a month-long investigation into explosions at a Fountaintown residence.

State police responded to a call to 911 reporting explosions that were occurring "two to three times per week" at a home on West Furry Road in Fountaintown. A juvenile injured his hand while constructing an explosive device at that address on June 5.

Investigators determined Michael Niemier, 20, of New Palestine had constructed an explosive device consisting of sparklers and PVC pipe and detonated it in a field behind the home.

Niemier was arrested Monday and has been charged with a felony count of Manufacturing, Transporting and Detonating a Destruct Device.

He was transported to the Hancock County Jail and was scheduled to have an initial hearing Tuesday.
