NBC affiliate WJHG-TV in Panama City, Fla. reports Alexis Fairchild will be released from Bay Medical Center on Thursday. A statement from her family said she will continue her rehabilitation at a hospital in Indianapolis.
"She's probably gonna been spending about a week or two there for inpatient, and she's gonna be spending a little time on outpatient. By the way it sounds, it's gonna be a good hospital and, like, she's gonna be in good hands, just like being here," said Alexis' father, Michael.
Fairchild and Sidney Good were injured July 1 when the parasail they were riding in Panama City struck a building and parked cars after a tow rope broke free, seriously injuring both girls.
Good's family says she continues to show improvement following a neck surgery on Monday. She began eating soft foods on Tuesday and was able to feed herself. Her family is hopeful she will be able to begin walking on Thursday.
Fairchild still has severe back pain, but continues to improve, her family says. The teenager has visited Good's room several times and has even made it to the hospital's gift shop to do some shopping.
"I was just so grateful that Alexis was here at this hospital, because the doctors, nurses, everybody from the big person down to the little person has been nothing but great, and I'm just so happy where Alexis is today. Even the doctors believe with the injury that Alexis had, that she's out walking as soon as what she is. So I think everybody's just so grateful," Michael Fairchild said.
