A national group that supports the belief that a higher power had a hand in the rise of life on Earth is questioning the fairness of a Ball State University panel reviewing allegations that an honors course is religion disguised as science.
The Discovery Institute contends three of the four panelists are linked to groups opposed to intelligent design. That's the belief that a higher power must have had a hand in life's origins because life is too complex to have developed through evolution alone.
Discovery Institute vice president John West tells The Star Press the three panelists' links to groups opposed to intelligent design raise "huge red flags."
He says it appears the course instructor, assistant professor of physics Eric Hedin, is "being railroaded."
