WASHINGTON, DC -

Indianapolis Colts safety Joe Lefeged was arrested overnight in the Northeast area of Washington, D.C. NBC Affiliate WRC reports that DC Police told them that at 12:05am Saturday morning, they initiated a traffic stop in the 4600 block of Central Avenue in Northeast DC.

The car fled from police and they caught up with it in the 4200 block of Blaine Street NE. Two defendants were put under arrest, NFL Player Joe Lefeged, 25 years old of Germantown, MD and Aaron Timothy Wilson, 23, of Potomac Maryland. It's not clear who was driving.

They are charged with: Carrying a firearm without a license, unregistered firearm, unregistered ammunition, presence of a firearm in a vehicle, and possession of an open container of alcohol. All police would say is that it was a handgun.

Lefeged, 25, is originally from Gaithersburg, Md., where he attended Northwest High School in Germantown. He played college football at Rutgers and was signed by the Colts as an undrafted free agent in 2011.
