Blackhawks take Game 5 over Boston, 3-1

The Chicago Blackhawks gained the advantage in the Stanley Cup Finals over the Boston Bruins at the United Center in Chicago Saturday night.

The Blackhawks shut out Boston until the third period, getting the win for Game 5 at 3-1.

The Bruins pulled within a goal on a Zdeno Chara blast with 16:20 remaining, but a late-scoring goal in the last minutes of the game put Chicago at 3-1.

Chicago is now 3-2 over Boston in the best-of-seven series.

Patrick Kane scored two goals for the Blackhawks and goaltender Corey Crawford had 24 saves.  Jonathan Toews had the secondary assist on both of Kane's goals.

Dave Bolland added an empty netter from center ice with 13.6 seconds left, and the Blackhawks moved within a win of their second championship in four years.

Game 6 is in Boston on Monday.
