AVON -

Avon Police are investigating an armed robbery at a tanning salon Monday morning.

Police are also looking at other robberies in the area to determine which ones fit the same description.

Things got downright dangerous just before 10 a.m. Monday morning for an employee working the front counter at Extreme Tanning at 7609 E. US Hwy 36 in Avon. A suspect walked behind the counter, flashed a gun, emptied the cash register and calmly walked out.

"The gun scared me and I just didn't want to take any chances and just opened the drawer and gave him the money," said victim Abby Ross.

Although tanning salon owner Todd Harper invested in a state-of-the-art security system. He never expected his employees to be in this much danger.

"Their safety, that is my first concern and the safety of everybody in the state. It's crazy that people act like this," said Harper.

On June 13, police believe the same man, who they call the "low-key robber," was caught on camera at the Marathon gas station. In surveillance video, he asks for cigarettes, lays a gun on the counter, empties the cash register and calmly walks away with the money.

"Very calm voice, gives them the demands that he is requesting and nonchalantly displays the handgun to them," said Avon Police Det. Sean Stoops.

Police believe the robber's calm demeanor during the robberies may be short-lived, especially since they have their own suspicions about the gunman.

"These are crimes that are typically associated with some kind of drug activity," Stoops said.

Police not only consider the low-key robber armed and dangerous, but most likely to strike again sooner, rather than later.

"What if he would have shot me?" Ross said.

The suspect was described as a white male with a thin build, not very tall, wearing a dark gray hoodie. There were no injuries in the tanning salon robbery.
