Police say a driver who ran a railroad crossing in eastern Indiana was struck by a train and killed.
The Palladium-Item reports witnesses told police the pickup truck drove through the lowered crossing gate on Indiana 1 Thursday and was hit by the westbound train. The driver, 92-year-old Lonnie Markum, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The accident happened near Hagerstown, about midway between Indianapolis and Dayton, Ohio.
Indiana 1 was closed in both directions after the crash.
