Henryville tornado relief group offers help to Oklahoma

Posted: Updated:
HENRYVILLE -

A team of volunteers led by a survivor of a tornado that swept through southern Indiana last year is headed to Oklahoma to help victims of last week's deadly storm.

Indiana Cares was created by stay-at-home mom Jennifer McConahay and college student Jennifer Corkum after they saw television reports about the May 20 tornado that devastated Moore, Okla.

The two women helped lead relief efforts in Henryville after an EF-4 tornado destroyed hundreds of properties last year. They tell the News and Tribune that they hope their experience enables them to help Oklahoma survivors who've lost everything.

Oklahoma is Indiana Cares' first relief trip, but the women hope to deploy to other disasters as needed.

McConahay lost two homes and two cars in the 2012 Indiana tornado.
