The Indiana Pacers return to practice on Monday, getting ready for game one of the Eastern Conference Finals and the Miami Heat. The Pacers are coming off an electrifying win Saturday night at Bankers Life Fieldhouse, where they closed out the New York Knicks in six games. Game one is not until Wednesday night, but the war of words has already started between teams.
After knocking off the Knicks Saturday night, Pacers coach Frank Vogel talked about their upcoming matchup with the Miami Heat, saying they're "the next team that's in our way and that's how we're approaching it."
What seemed like a standard comment during a post-game press conference, was anything but to the Heat's LeBron James. He talked about those comments over the weekend to reporters in Miami, saying "We're not just another team. I don't understand what he's saying. But we're not just another team. It's not true."
James went on to say,"[Pacers coach Frank Vogel] said we're just another team in their way. We're not just another team. We're a great team. We're very confident. We'll be ready for them. But if we're just another team, you really don't prepare for just another team. We're not just another team. You got to be prepared for us.''
Another reporter asked, "Did your ears perk up when your heard that [from Vogel].'' LeBron says, "Absolutely. I'll be ready.'
The Pacers have had success against the Heat during the regular season, winning two of their three games. Game 1 between the Pacers and the Miami Heat is Wednesday night at American Airlines Arena in Miami. Game 2 is also in Miami Friday night. Then, the series come to Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis for Game 3 Sunday night and Game 4 Tuesday night.
