The owners of a Madison County shop are on a mission to tell the county's stories and help residents see that the area continues to thrive despite the loss of General Motors.
David Neidert tells The Herald Bulletin that the We Are Madison County campaign will emphasize that people, not companies, make the county great.
Neidert and filmmaker Luke Renner have set up social media accounts and a web page where people can recommend others who have compelling histories or quirky perspectives. They film the storytellers and weave their narratives into a collective county history that's posted to www.WeAreMadisonCounty.org .
Neidert says they've already filmed a few interviews and are looking for more candidates.
The campaign could eventually include a blog, photo essays and other methods of storytelling.
