HAMILTON COUNTY -

What's left of a semi truck that caught fire this morning is still causing problems for drivers on northbound Interstate 69 near 116th Street in Fishers.

The fire started around 4 a.m. in the northbound lanes of I-69 just before the 116th Street exit.  Police at the scene tell Eyewitness News that the fire started when one semi rear-ended another.

Traffic is down to one lane on northbound I-69 between the 96th Street and the 116th Street exits.  Drivers have to use the State Road 37 exit to get around the crash and get back onto I-69.  At times, traffic is backing up past the 96th Street exit. Southbound lanes of I-69 are slow.

Eyewitnesses driving by the wreckage say the cab of the second semi was destroyed.  Firefighters appear to have the fire under control, although it rekindled at least once.

Police report no fatal injuries from the crash, although the condition of the driver of the burned semi is not know.

Wreckers are removing the damaged semi, but INDOT has no exact estimate of when all lanes will resume normal traffic.

This story will be updated.
