Police in northwestern Indiana are looking for the person who dumped a mother dog and 17 puppies along a road in northwestern Indiana.
Karen Read tells The Times in Munster that she spotted the puppies Friday night. She and some other local residents gathered up the puppies until a Porter County Animal Control officer could arrive and take them to the animal shelter.
The mother dog was captured Monday.
Officials say the puppies appear to be from two different litters and are Labrador retriever mixes.
They could be ready for adoption as soon as Saturday.
Police are asking anyone with information about who dumped the dogs to call Porter County Animal Control at (219) 477-3110.
