WAYNESVILLE, Ind. -

Police say the murders of four people in a small town in Bartholomew County were drug-related.

Four people were found dead overnight Saturday in a home on Main Cross Street. The Bartholomew County coroner confirmed that all of the victims had at least one gunshot wound to the head, and all were shot multiple times.

Sheriff's deputies have remained on the scene since the grim discovery was made by a relative.

Investigators say 39-year-old Tommy Smith along with 53-year-old Katherine Burton lived in the home. Smith and Burton, along with 41-year-old Aaron Cross and 41-year-old Shawn Burton, were found shot to death inside the house. Kathy Burton's son, Daniel, came home and found all four victims dead.

"I walked in and noticed my big screen TV was missing, so I turned on the light and saw two dead bodies in front of me," Daniel said.

Police say the 27-year-old made the distressed call to 911 late Saturday night.

"They tore through the house and robbed us. It looks like a robbery gone wrong or something," Burton said.

Speaking at a news conference Tuesday, the Bartholomew County sheriff told reporters that no arrests have been made in the case, but says they have interviewed two "persons of interest."

Investigators tell Eyewitness News they aren't exactly sure what happened inside the home before the shooting, but say what they found inside is a clear indication it wasn't a random crime.

"We are considering these deaths drug-related. We found the following items at the crime scene: meth, spent shell casings and a knife used in one of the homicides," said Bartholomew County Sheriff Mark Gorbett.

The coroner says the knife was used to stab Kathy Burton several times. Her son told the 911 dispatcher he knew she was dead.

"My mom is in the bedroom. It is locked. I can't get in. I'm pretty sure she's probably dead, too," Daniel told the dispatcher. "You've got detectives and crime scene and all that coming?"

"We just have officers en route now," the dispatcher replied.

"This is, uh, there is two dead bodies here, man. They're dead," Burton said.

"Okay," said the dispatcher.

"They're dead. There is blood, well, not everywhere. They are right. This ain't like the movies," Burton said. "They killed my whole family, dude."
