IMPD charges man in six bank robberies

INDIANAPOLIS -

Police think they've caught a serial bank robber.

Chancley Podniestrzanski is alleged to have committed eight robberies in Marion County this year, including six bank robberies. These include:

· February 15, 2013 - Bank Robbery, Forum Credit Union, 5210 East Southport Road.

· February 20, 2013 - Bank Robbery, Fifth Third Bank, 5075 West Washington Street.

· March 5, 2013 - Bank Robbery, PNC Bank, 3003 Kentucky Avenue.

· March 12, 2013 - Bank Robbery, Fifth Third Bank, 5075 West Washington Street.

· March 21, 2013 - Attempt Commercial Robbery, Village Pantry, 3375 West Michigan Street.

· March 21, 2013 - Strong Armed Robbery of a Person, 3021 West Washington Street.

· April 3, 2013 - Bank Robbery, Fifth Third Bank, 7373 West 10th Street.

· April 10, 2013 - Bank Robbery, Forum Credit Union, 7023 Corporate Drive.

Podniestrzanski is being held in the Hancock County Jail on unrelated burglary charges. He was discovered as the bank robbery suspect after several local law enforcement agencies shared information about recent crimes.

Podniestrzanski faces eight counts of C felony robbery in connection with the bank robberies.

Indianapolis Metro Police and the FBI Safe Streets Task Force worked on the case.
