Richie Havens' ashes will be scattered at the site that made him famous: Max Yasgur's farm.
Havens' family say later this summer they will scatter his ashes at the site of Woodstock in 1969, which is now the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts.
Havens opened Woodstock and was onstage nearly three hours because many of the other performers were stuck in traffic.
Havens' family will bring his ashes to the City Winery club in New York tonight for an informal memorial open to the public.
