The power outages affecting over 7,200 customers in Boone and Howard counties Sunday afternoon have been repaired.
According to Duke Energy the outage in Howard County was caused by a failed insulator in a substation. The Boone County outage is due to a squirrel that interfered with some substation equipment and crews are working to restore power as quickly as possible.
A release from the Boone County Sheriff's Office states, "Duke Energy is aware of the problem and to expect two to four hours to complete repairs. Treat treat all traffic signals as four a way stop.
