A Bloomington High School South student is making a name for himself in amateur radio circles.
Padraig Lysandrou has received the highest amateur radio license possible and has made the cover of one of the country's top ham radio magazines less than two years after becoming interested in shortwave radio.
The Herald-Times reports Lysandrou obtained an Extra Class license last year and expanded his interest during a family trip to Cyprus last June. He helped set up stations in six areas during the trip and made contact with people from 100 countries.
Lysandrou will make a presentation about his trip May 18 at a ham radio convention in Dayton, Ohio.
