The Indiana Arts Commission is looking for a new state poet laureate.
The panel says it's accepting nominations for the position that develops educational programming and raises awareness of poetry. The laureate makes formal presentations at various education events and gives the Arts Commission advice on how to advance poetry in Indiana.
Nominees must be current Indiana residents and remain residents during their two-year term. They should also be published poets with experience developing education programming.
Nominations should consist of a cover letter and resume detailing the person's qualifications and accomplishments. Materials must be submitted via email to the Indiana Arts Commission by August 1 and will be reviewed by a committee of higher education representatives.
Current poet laureate Karen Kovacik's term expires January 2014.
