INDIANAPOLIS -

State police followed a semi for several miles Monday evening when it refused to heed a trooper's lights and siren.

A trooper assigned to the Indianapolis post attempted to stop a semi tractor and trailer as it was eastbound on I-70 from west of Holt Road. The officer was investigating a traffic violation.

The driver of the semi continued for several miles while the trooper followed.

The semi finally came to a stop at the south split.

State police say they don't know why the driver failed to yield, but they're investigating whether the driver was operating while impaired.
