FRANKLIN COUNTY -

Police are investigating human skeletal remains found in Franklin County Sunday. That's in eastern Indiana.

People walking along Big Cedar Creek near Cedar Grove came across the remains near the edge of the creek. Investigators spent much of Sunday searching for clues.

The Franklin County coroner's office took the remains to the Hamilton County (Ohio) coroner's office for DNA and forensic testing. (Franklin County is on the Indiana-Ohio border.)

At this point authorities don't know if the skeleton is that of a male or female, or even an adult or child, how long the remains were at that location or a cause of death.

The identification process could take several weeks.

Assisting at the scene were Indiana Conservation Officers, Franklin County Sheriff's Deputies, and the Franklin County Coroner's Office.
