Unbeatens Verrazano and Vyjack are among a field of 10 entered for Saturday's Wood Memorial at Aqueduct, a final prep race before the Kentucky Derby.
Verrazano was made the 4-5 favorite Wednesday and will leave from the No. 8 post with John Velazquez aboard. Vyjack is next at 4-1 from the No. 5 post. He will be ridden by Joel Rosario.
Also entered are Chrisandthecapper, Normandy Invasion, Quinzieme Monarque, Elnaawi, Mr Palmer, Always in a Tiz, Go Get the Basil and Freedom Child.
The race is worth 170 Derby qualifying points. The winner gets 100 points, with 40 for second, 20 for third and 10 for fourth. The top 20 points earners qualify for the May 4 Derby.
Verrazano and Vyjack each have 50 points and have all but qualified for the race. The others need to run first or second to have a chance to get in the Derby.
Flashback favorite at Santa Anita
Flashback is the early 9-5 favorite for the $750,000 Santa Anita Derby this weekend, although the 3-year-old colt will break from the rail, a position his Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert famously dislikes.
Baffert skipped Wednesday's post position draw, saying he always gets jinxed when he shows up. He says he'll just have to make the best of the No. 1 position in the starting gate.
Flashback is coming off a second-place finish in the San Felipe Stakes on March 9, when he was the even-money favorite. The West's major prep race for next month's Kentucky Derby drew 10 colts, with the winner earning 100 qualifying points toward landing a spot in the 20-horse field on the first Saturday in May.
Baffert will also saddle 5-1 shot Power Broker and 6-1 shot Super Ninety Nine.
