Duke women looking to pull off upset against Notre Dame
NORFOLK, Va. -
Two of the elite programs in women's basketball meet in the Norfolk Regional final on Tuesday, and top-seeded Notre Dame is favored to roll past No. 2 seeded Duke.
The Fighting Irish are led by senior point guard Skylar Diggins and riding a 29-game winning streak. They also are seeking their third consecutive trip to the national championship game.
Duke has advanced despite playing its last 10 games without injured All-American point guard Chelsea Gray. The Blue Devils have had significant fall-off offensively during the tournament and have managed games at times with their defense.
Coach Joanne P. McCallie joked after Sunday's 53-45 victory against Nebraska that she's ready for the Blue Devils to play another efficient game - which they likely will need to beat the Irish.
