The Indianapolis Motor Speedway will now charge for parking inside the famed oval on race days.
Passes for parking in Turn 3 for the Indianapolis 500 and "Your Hero's Name Here" 400 at the Brickyard NASCAR race went on sale Monday. Front-row parking spaces are available for $75, while additional general parking spaces selling for $25.
The speedway says starting this year, all Turn 3 parking for the two oval races must be pre-paid. Entry will be allowed only with a parking pass.
Parking passes can be purchased at the IMS ticket office or by calling (800) 822-INDY or (317) 492-6700 between 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Passes are also available at the IMS website.
Free parking will still be available outside the oval, with access from West 30th Street.
Gates open at 5:30 a.m. for the May 26 Indianapolis 500 and at 6 a.m. for the "Your Hero's Name Here" 400 at the Brickyard on July 15. Pass holders are guaranteed a parking space, but are urged to arrive before 9 a.m. on race days. It is recommended pass holders enter through the tunnel off West 16th Street.
