A former Indiana University cheerleader has been murdered in her suburban St. Louis home.

Police say Suzanne Gunter was killed by her husband and that he staged her death to look like an accident.

William Gunter was arrested Wednesday, two days after Suzanne was found at the bottom of their stairway.

Investigators say the 59-year-old struck Suzanne on Monday with an object, causing fatal injuries. He allegedly placed her body to make it appear she fell down the stairs.

William Gunter is being held without bail in jail.

Suzanne's funeral will be held Friday in Missouri. Read her obituary here.

She was 55 years old.
