Lake Station teacher who wrote threatening message on leave

LAKE STATION -

A northwestern Indiana teacher who wrote a threatening message on his classroom blackboard has been placed on administrative leave.

The Lake Station School Board approved leave Wednesday for Edison High School business teacher Jeff Kincaid, who's taught business and coached for 28 years in Lake Station.

Outraged parents called for Kincaid to be fired.

The Post-Tribune reports the former football coach returned from a few days off March 1 to learn that one of his students had cursed at a substitute teacher. He then wrote a series of student assignments on a blackboard along with the message "You are idiots," ''The guns are loaded," and "Care to try me?"

A student took a photo of the message with his cellphone and posted it on Facebook.

Kincaid has apologized to the district's superintendent for his actions.
