Posted: Updated:
FORT WAYNE -

The mayor of Fort Wayne is calling on residents of all faiths to join together in May to pray for relief from the economic and crime problems facing the city, state and nation.

The Journal Gazette reports Mayor Tom Henry held a news conference flanked by a Christian minister, an Islamic imam and an IPFW religious studies instructor to announce his support of a May event that will include prayers, singing, dances and readings from Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Judaism, Islam, Sikhism, Unitarian-Universalism and Baha'i.

The event is called "Prayers for the City - A Celebration of One Community, Many Faiths." It will be held in the University of St. Francis Performing Arts Center.
