INDIANAPOLIS -

A professor at the Indiana University School of Law in Indianapolis will become the school's next dean.

A news release from the school Tuesday says Andrew Klein will take over as the dean of the IU Robert McKinney School of Law July 1. His appointment must be approved by the university's board of trustees.

The 50-year-old Klein has been involved in administration since 2010 and oversees IUPUI's intercollegiate athletics program. He has been a member of the school's faculty since 2000.

As dean, Klein will be responsible for the law school's overall strategic vision and work to advance research, education and civic engagement.

The McKinney School of Law in downtown Indianapolis has existed for more than 100 years and has 11,000 graduates.
