Carmel Police chase ends in motorcycle fatality

A traffic stop in Carmel ended in a motorcycle fatality after the driver ran from police.

The motorcycle operator, 23 year old Travis Goddard of Fishers, was pronounced dead on the scene by Carmel Fire Department medics.

A Carmel Police officer attempted to conduct the traffic stop on 116th Street about 12:45 a.m. Sunday. 

Police say Goddard accelerated to a high rate of speed before crashing near the intersection of 116th Street and River Rd.

The Carmel Police Department's Accident Investigation Team is assisting with the investigation of the crash.
