Dead man's mom in Fort Wayne blames thug culture

Posted: Updated:
FORT WAYNE -

The mother of a 23-year-old man gunned down outside her Fort Wayne home says his death and the another shooting death a half mile away less than eight hours later are indicative of some of the area's biggest problems.

Denise Trigg tells The Journal Gazette that youth in the city are buying into the glamour of thug life. She says her son, Demarcus Adams, tried to escape the street life but couldn't. He was fatally shot outside her house Thursday evening.

Later that night, Trigg looked into a television camera and implored people to come forward with information, saying it is not snitching.

She says she knows some people do not trust police, but says that shouldn't matter when lives are in jeopardy.
