Revelers await St. Patrick's Day from NY to Dublin

NEW YORK, NEW YORK -

Crowds cheered and bagpipes bellowed as New York City's annual St. Patrick's Day parade kicked off on Fifth Avenue.

Leading the march Saturday were 750 members of the New York Army National Guard.
The 1st Battalion of the 69th Infantry has been marching in the parade since 1851.
Other participants this year include Irish Prime Minister Enda Kenny.

The six-hour parade passes St. Patrick's Cathedral on its way through Manhattan.
St. Patrick's Day is Sunday, but the parade is being held a day early so it doesn't interfere with religious observances.
